Health & Wholeness

The purpose of our Health & Wholeness Ministry is to promote the physical and spiritual health of the congregation by providing health screenings, educational seminars and information on issues relating to health and wholeness.

Here's what's happening soon in this ministry:

  • Blood Drive - Our upcoming Blood Drives will be held on May 20, September 16 and December 2, 2012.  All blood drives are held from 8AM - 12:30PM.  To register, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
  • CPR/AED/First Aid Training - We will sponsor certification training in CPR, First Aid and use of AED devices on May 5, August 4 and November 3.To register, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , 770-963-0386, ext. 150.
  • Emergency CPR Procedure - The Mayo Clinic has developed a new CPR method that anyone can do with little or no training. Click here to view the demonstration video.
  • Act FAST: Save a Life - May is National Stroke Awareness Month and a good time to learn the warning signs of a stroke. According to the National Stroke Association when someone is having a stroke, acting F.A.S.T. will increase their chances of having a complete recovery or suffering minimal damage.  When strokes are treated within three hours with "clot-busting" medication, most patients do very well; however, the drug is not as effective more than three hours after the onset of a stroke.  Knowing what to do can save a life!

F (Face) - Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop?
A (Arms) - Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
S (Speech) - Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is their speech slurred, strange?
T (Time) - If you observe any of these signs, call 911 immediately.

The Health & Wholeness Ministry also supports two local organizations: Covenant Counseling Group and the Red Cross. Learn more about each organization below.

Covenant Counseling Group - Covenant Counseling & Family Resource Center (CCFRC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote healing and wholeness in the community by extending the outreach and ministry of the Church through pastoral counseling, psychotherapy, education and consultation. It is the vision of CCFRC that it will be a vital and creative center whose services enable individuals, couples, families, pastors, organizations and congregations to experience healing and wholeness in their individual and family living, their relationships and their organizational functioning.

Red Cross - From its beginning, the American Red Cross has formed a community of service, of generous, strong and decent people bound by beliefs beyond themselves. The honor, spirit and resources of the American people comes forth with neighbors helping neighbors in need - during earthquakes, floods, fires, storms - and also for the deeply personal and often quiet disasters that require a gift of blood.
